The DV-SQN has been designed to run directly from on Hawk-Woods DV-F or Sony NPF series of batteries DV-F970 / DV-F980. The output is directly from the Battery, 8.4V when charged and 6.0V when discharged. This lower voltage range is suitable for powering most audio mixers and recorders being offered today. A step-up 12V fully regulated version is also available DV-SQNR. The advantage is the convenience of 12V out suitable for driving up to 12 Watts.
